What is required to get an Australian Merchant Account:
Merchant account setup fee $149.95 USD (one time fee)
Merchant account monthly fees $55.00 USD (monthly)
This enables you to process VISA, MasterCard & American Express Cards
online.
You get 250 transactions per month included after which the is cost only
0.25 USD cents per transaction
All money processed will be held in Trust for 30 days then transferred to
your Australian bank account. (Usually on the first of every month)
The reason for this is to reduce bank transfer fees and to protect you
against credit card chargebacks fees.
What is a chargeback?
A chargeback occurs when a customer buys a product and then
call the credit card company and claims that either they did not purchase
the product and asks to be credited, or they don't receive a product or are
not satisfied with the product. A consumer has 60 days from purchase to
file a claim for a chargeback under VISA and MasterCard rules.
Chargeback fees:
Chargeback within 30 days = $55.00 USD
Chargeback after 30 days = $110.00 USD
* If lengthily fighting process is
required, extra fees will apply and you will be notified of them.
How you are protected from fraud:
We protect you from chargebacks via checking CVV2 codes ( Card Verification Codes - 3 number on the back of the card) and by only allowing transactions to be processed from the billing address of the credit card. We also scan the credit cards country of origin IP address to match with the IP address of the purchaser.
Late payment fees:
If your monthly fees is not paid on time (on the first of
every month) you will incur an automatic $25.00 late fee.
All accounts not paid by the 15th of the month will be suspended and will
require re-activation.
