The information on this page applies to all Windows
versions of Outlook Express (versions 4, 5 and 6).
The Configuration and Troubleshooting section also applies
to Outlook 2000.
Configuration and Troubleshooting
You should follow through these instructions if you
have not yet set up your account, or if you are having
problems with sending and receiving mail.
They should fix most problems that occur within Outlook
Express.
- Go to the Tools menu in Outlook Express and click
on Accounts

- Click on the
Mail tab
- If you have
anything in here already, click on it then click Remove

Click
the Add button and choose Mail
- For Your name enter your name (this can be anything
you like - full name, first name, nickname, etc) and
click Next

- For Email Address enter your email address (YourLoginName@YourDomain.com)
and click Next

- For Incoming mail server type, POP3 should be selected
- For Incoming Mail server enter mail.YourDomain.com
- For Outgoing Mail sever enter mail.YourDomain.com
WARNING! If your ISP (Internet Service Provider) does not allow mail to be sent from
other service providers, you will need to use your ISP's SMTP address instead of ours in the
SMTP address field. example: Telstra would be - mail-hub.bigpond.com.au

- Click Next
- For account name enter your email address (YourLoginName@YourDomain.com).
- For Password enter your password
- Please note that Secure Password Authentication
should NOT be ticked
- Click Next
- If you are using OE 5 or 6, click Finish here. If
you are using OE 4, continue on:
- The Internet mail account name can be anything -
just click Next
- Put a dot next to I will establish my Internet connection
manually
- Click Next
- Click Finish
- Click Close on the Accounts window and you are done!
